High Potential Season 3 Fate: ABC’s Latest Bombshell Statement Leaves Fans Reeling!

Season 3 of the hit drama is set to air on ABC—just not when fans would hope.
It’s been almost three months since High Potential season 2 last aired on TV, and we’re already excited for what’s next!
With the hit drama coming back for season 3, fans will get to see Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) and Detective Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) solve more crimes for the LAPD. And there’s always more than meets the eye with these two, both professionally and personally.
While Morgan and Karadec’s chemistry is off the charts, folks watched as Morgan attempted to find love with Captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey). But alas, High Potential season 2 ended on a major cliffhanger, with fans wondering if Wagner will survive being stabbed by a mysterious assassin.
Given all of this, we can’t help but wonder when High Potential season 3 will air. Judging by what we just discovered about the show’s return date, you’ll definitely want to pay attention to this news.
Will there be a new season of High Potential in 2026?
Much to the frustration of fans everywhere, High Potential will not return in 2026.

According to a May 12 report from the network, the show is being held until midseason 2027 as part of a broader TV rollout that includes The Rookie, Will Trent, and more.
“Our focus has always been simple: Make the best shows on television and get them to audiences however they want to watch,” said President of Disney Television Group, Craig Erwich. “That strategy continues to drive the success of ABC and Hulu—from legacy hits being embraced by new generations to breakout series becoming the next cultural touchstones. With a standout slate of comedies, dramas, unscripted and live programming, alongside marquee events like the Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff, the Grammys, and the Oscars in 2027, our content engine is firing on all cylinders.”
As Kaitlin stated while walking the red carpet at the Disney Advertising Upfront in New York City on May 12, season 3 has a lot to explore.
“Well, we left you on quite a cliffhanger,” she stated in a clip posted on Instagram. “Is Captain Wagner dead? Has he been stabbed to death? Has he just been stabbed? I have no answers for you. Just questions as well.”
“Oh, I wish I could tell you everything,” she added. “There’s always the will they or won’t they with Karadec. There’s a lot of heartbreak at the end of this season, but I really love seeing Morgan struggle and get it wrong, because it makes her human.”
